History of Rock and Roll

OSHR 7010

An examination and facilitated conversation on the history of rock and roll, from its origins in traditional American styles to its breakthrough to the mainstream in the 1950s, its flowering in the 1960s, and its splintering in the late 1970s into a myriad of styles that we will examine. The course will explore the individual decades, iconic personalities, and cultural context of the artists, music, and time periods.
