The New Frontier: AI and Me (DRAKE HALL)
OSHR 8112In this course, participants will explore the implications of the rapidly advancing world of artificial intelligence (AI). Discussions led by CSU's Chief Information Security Officer will focus on what lifelong learners need to understand about how AI is reshaping technology and everyday life. Topics and activities include the history of AI, writing effective prompts, evaluating the accuracy of AI-generated results in web searches, assessing the safety of AI tools, and examining the social and environmental impacts of AI.
Steve Lovaas started using a computer in the 1980s. He did not switch from singing opera to securing IT until returning home to Colorado in the 1990s. Steve was a student in the inaugural classes of one of the first security master's programs (Norwich University) and the first PhD cohort in Public Communication & Technology (CSU). Along the way, his studies in music, philosophy, languages, marine science, chemistry, and computer networking reflected his curiosity and love of learning, which he continues to exercise as CSU's Chief Information Security Officer. Steve's publications and presentations have taken him across oceans and national borders, but he is most fascinated by the borders we continue to erect trying to feel safe. He hopes that a deep and mindful attention to security and privacy, as we continue to innovate, will help us remember why we build these borders—and what they are not good for.
