OSHR 7063Are you comically curious? Have you secretly wanted to strut your stuff? Did you enjoy all the laughs you got with your wedding “toast”? Or would you just like to lighten up and laugh again?! Then this is the workshop - change that, fun-shop - for you! We will brainstorm our ideas for funny, learn comedy tips to spice up our stories, play with the scary microphone, and surprise ourselves. Fun exercises will help you find your comic persona, build set-ups, shape incongruity, practice timing, thread your narrative line, and more! We will create a supportive and safe place to stretch out of your comfort zone, sharpen your funny bone, and laugh (the best medicine) every week. Exercise your sixth sense - your sense of humor! Yes, you can do this!
Kate Lyn Reiter is an MFA graduate of the YALE School of Drama. She has written and performed award-winning character comedy and stand-up comedy in the New York City area for several years and has been a comedy speaker at various health & wellness events. An Award-Winning Public Speaker, she brings a light-hearted touch to every class. She has taught English Composition & Literature, as well as Theatre, at Centenary College and Warren County Community College in New Jersey. She continues to deliver engaging keynotes to local groups on “Bringing Humor to Life” and teaches Comedy Workshops focused on “turning adversity into an asset.” In her spare time, you can catch her acting at Bas Bleu Theatre in Fort Collins or doing Agility Sports with her Golden Retriever, Poppins. (Allergy alert: the golden retriever, Poppins, attends classes.)
