50 Ways to Discover Colorado (DRAKE HALL)
OSHR 8044In 1982, Paul Simon released his song, "Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover." What if we modified the theme to a more upbeat and locally applicable perspective, like fifty diverse ways to explore, discover, and engage the full character of Colorado? That theme could easily elaborate to include fifty mountains and fifty valleys, fifty rivers and fifty lakes, fifty trees and fifty wildflowers, fifty birds, and so much more! Or it might focus selectively on a blending of just fifty such things. Suddenly, "hop on the bus, Gus," promises a whole new motivation to visit the state we call home!
Note: This course meets on Mondays and Wednesdays for 3 consecutive weeks.Kevin Cook began watching birds as a child, first sick with measles and then later with polio. He pursued that interest with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in wildlife biology. He began writing a question-and-answer column and feature stories for Bird Watcher’s Digest in 1991 and continued through 2014. For 35 years he guided birding tours on his own, with tour companies, and with Road Scholars. He taught various wildlife seminars for the Rocky Mountain Conservancy at Rocky Mountain National Park for 26 years and has been teaching bird identification classes independently since the 1980s.
