OLLI Talks: Tools and Practices for Regulating the Nervous System in Challenging Times (DRAKE HALL)
OSHR 3284It is easy for our nervous systems to become overwhelmed, given the stressors of our increasingly complex world. We know exactly what a dysregulated nervous system feels like in body and mind, but we often don’t know how to skillfully bring our nervous system back into balance. By understanding how this nerve network communicates with our minds and bodies, we can learn how to better intervene before sympathetic distress occurs. In this class, you will be given tools to help regulate your nervous system. This involves learning how to embody safety through somatic practices that help us cycle through the stress response. We will also learn to cultivate inner resources like mindfulness and compassion, which are anchors for staying present and kind to ourselves despite the real challenges we may be facing.
