(Online) America at the Crossroads - Reasons for Despair and Hope!
OSHR 5024With this Presidential and General Election, America is once again at a crossroads, both domestically and internationally. This two-part class will be led by Bob “Pollyanna” Lawrence and John “Eeyore” Roberts… and in memory of our good friend and colleague Dan Ward. Positive and negative anticipated effects of the election for the near and mid-term futures will be addressed. Reasons for Despair and Reasons for Hope, at home and abroad, deserve discussion.
Robert Lawrence is recognized nationally as an expert on military, strategic, and diplomatic, cold war topics. He has authored books on American government, arms control and disarmament, ballistic missile defense, energy policy, and the utility of nuclear weapons and their proliferation. He has served in the U.S. Air Force and worked at the Hudson Institute and Stanford Research institute think tanks. He has taught political science at the University of Kansas, Texas Tech University, University of Arizona, CU, and is a professor emeritus at CSU.
John E. Roberts has an MS from Cornell University, and has served 34-years with the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Peace Corps as an undisciplined, semi-professional in 19 different countries. He has taught International Studies at CSU and has taught a variety of courses with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Colorado State University since 1999. John brings a rich set of life experiences and a keen interest in international affairs. He describes himself as “a student, a teacher, and an internationalist.”
